Mr. Naresh Singh

Board Chairman

Mr Naresh Singh was appointed the new Board Chairman of Eskom Uganda Limited (EUL) on 16th July 2019. Mr Singh is the Acting General Manager for Africa Strategy for Eskom Holdings SOC Limited in South Africa. He is an Electrical Engineer graduated from the University of Natal.

He also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Oxford. He has held various positions in Eskom Holdings SOC Limited for the last 12 years, including major international assignments. He brings a wealth of experience to the Board of EUL.

Julian

Mr. Julian Fourie

Board Member

Mr Julian Fourie was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director of EUL on 16th July 2019. Mr Fourie is the Senior Manager (Plant Management) of Eskom Peaking Generation, comprising five 700 MW of hydro and gas-fired generation across nine power stations. Prior to that he was Senior Manager Engineering, Eskom Generation Group. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Chemistry from United World Colleges. He brings a wealth of technical experience onto the EUL Board.

Peter Kimbowa

Dr. Peter Kimbowa

Board Member

Dr. Peter Kimbowa is the Chairperson of the Human Resource Committee (HRC) at Eskom Uganda Limited. Peter is the team leader CEO Summit Uganda and is an Executive Coach, Internationally certified trainer, speaker, consultant and author. He is a Board member in Equity Bank Uganda Limited, Baylor College of Medicine (Mulago and Texas), Kampala Archdiocese Land Board and Council Member of the emerging second Catholic University – Ggaba University of Theology and Technology (GUTTS) and Financial Sector Deepening Initiative of Executive Coaching Association for Africa. He is a founding Director of the League of East African Directors (LEAD). He is an adjunct faculty member Strathmore Business School, a founding member Association of Management Consultants of Uganda (AMCU) and Uganda Coaches and Mentors. He is a co-founder and Managing Partner IFE – a Leadership and Management Development consulting firm and also an Associate of National Academy of Sciences as well as American Management Association. Peter is also the Board Chairman of the Transport Management Company (TMC) and Solace Ltd/Liberty Life – The pioneering funeral service insurance company.

In 2020, Peter Kimbowa was named as one of the ‘101 Most Fabulous Global Coaching Leaders’ by the World Human Resource Development (HRD) Congress.

James Okello Onyoin

Mr. James Okello Onyoin

Board Member

Mr. James Onyoin is the Chairperson of the Audit Risk Committee (ARC) at Eskom Uganda Limited. James is a Public Financial Management (PFM) Expert with over 20 years’ experience in International Development. He is a Senior Partner at Jim Roberts Certified Public Accountants.

James is a Trustee for the CEO Summit Uganda and previously held senior management positions at the Tropical Bank, Uganda Revenue Authority, Ernst & Young, KPMG and Price water house Coopers (PwC).

James has extensive hands-on experience in consulting, training, capacity building, mentoring, executive coaching, change management, project management and implementation of Public Sector Reforms and Integrated Financial Management Information Systems. He is a member of the Pool of Experts for the IMF, World Bank, UNDP, and the African Development Bank. James has conducted various consultancy assignments for a number of bilateral and multilateral institutions, international development agencies, and the Governments of Uganda, Kenya, the Gambia, Liberia, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Ethiopia, Sudan, Lesotho and South Sudan.

James is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) UK. He holds an MBA of Oxford Brookes University UK, and a B.Com degree of Makerere University Kampala. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Income Tax Administration (DITA) from the Uganda Management Institute.

James is a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Ms. Thozama Gangi

Managing Director

Ms Thozama Gangi has been with Eskom South Africa for 14 years with most of her career in the Eskom generation business:

She started with Eskom at Matimba Power Station where she worked in various positions i.e. Boiler Engineering Manager, Plant Performance Manager and Production Manager where she developed Life of Plant Plans and Technical plans for the Power Station.

She was instrumental in improving the execution of projects within the approved technical plan where the projects were mainly investment and capital projects.

Stephen

Mr. Stephen Byaruhanga

Finance Director

Mr. Stephen Byaruhanga Mr. Byaruhanga joined Eskom Uganda Limited in 2004 as a Management Accountant Trainee. In June 2006, He was confirmed as Management Accountant and in 2008, he was appointed as Finance Manager. In October 2016, he was transferred to the Risk Department as Risk Manager, a position he held until his new appointment as Finance Director on 1st April 2017.

During the period 2013 to end of March 2017, Stephen served in acting position as Finance Director. Stephen has been a key player in most of the strategic projects that EUL has undertaken in the last 5 years. He has also served as a Management Representation championing the ISO standards. Stephen has benefited from several human capital development initiatives, programmes and exposure e.g. AMP with Strathmore Business School.

In 2017, he was nominated as the top 40 under 40 outstanding managers/leaders who are star performers and advancing in their careers. Mr. Byaruhanga is a Certified Chartered Accountant and Eskom is proud of his progression through the ranks.

Luvuyo

Mr. Luvuyo Feni

Technical Director

Luvuyo Feni is the current Technical Director for Eskom Uganda Limited. He is a Professional Mechanical Engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa. He has been with Eskom since University where he had a bursary to study Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pretoria which he completed First Class and started his career at Duvha Power Station in Mpumalanga. Luvuyo has spent the majority of his career within Eskom, and has served in various of Eskom’s business areas. Luvuyo has worked in 5 coal power plants serving in various roles such as Engineering, Outage Management, Operations, Production as well as Construction Management. The power plants worked in are Duvha, Arnot, Hendrina, Medupi and Kriel. Luvuyo has also served as the Manager for the Integrated Generation Control center where he worked with National Control and the Generation Production team to oversee the Eskom fleet’s short term energy requirements.

Luvuyo has worked with and eventually headed the Eskom Internal Consulting Unit (The Top Engineer’s Programme now known as Top Consulting Group), before his current role as the Technical Director of Eskom Uganda Limited. During his tenure in the Top Consulting Group (TCG), he worked in various parts of the business ranging from Corporate Affairs to Human Resources. During his tenure in TCG, Luvuyo won a National Excellence Award for his work in HR on Apartheid Income Differentials, as well as a Special Chairman’s award on his work on the Generation Production System (GPSS). This work led to Eskom nominating Luvuyo to the South African Presidency as one of the Young Achievers for 2016, where he was honored amongst a handful of other South African Youth by meeting the President of South Africa on Youth Day June 16th 2016, His Excellency Jacob Zuma at Orlando Stadium during the National Celebrations of the African National Congress. Luvuyo enjoys learning new things, which is evident in him speaking 6 Languages including Xhosa and German. He Enjoys travelling to new places, and spending time with his family.
